IMPORT AND EXPORT STATUS OF VIETNAM - THE FIRST 4 MONTHS OF 2023
In the first 4 months of the year, the country's total import and export turnover reached USD 206.76 billion , notably, both exports and imports fell sharply at double digits.
The General Statistics Office of Customs has just announced that in April, the export turnover reached USD 27.86 billion, down 6.2% compared to the previous month.
In the monthS, there were 7 groups of export products with a turnover of 1 billion USD or more/group. However, up to 6/7 groups with reduced needle penetration include: phones and components; computers, electronic products and components; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts; apricot umbrella; means of transport and spare parts; wood and wood products.
Footwear is the only key export group with a positive growth rate of US$1.85 billion, up 17.9% over the previous month.
For the whole 4 months, the total export turnover reached 107.16 billion USD, down 13% over the same period last year and most of the key export commodity groups suffered a decrease in prices.
In contrast, imports in April were only 25.2 billion USD, down 11% month on month. In general, in the first 4 months of the year, import turnover reached 99.6 billion USD, down 17.7%.
Notably, key commodity groups and important inputs for export industries such as phones and components; computers, electronic products and components; by-products Sewing, leather and footwear… fell deeply at double digits. In addition, phones and components decreased by 66%, reaching only $ 2.52 billion.
In the first 4 months of the year, total export turnover reached 206.76 billion USD, the trade balance reached a surplus of 7.56 billion USD.
